Spitalfields City Farm

Good morning, folks! As I try to do it every weekend, here’s the tale of Sunday, 13th of July, when I went to Spitalfields City Farm with my friend Charlotte and a few students from Malvern House.

The farm is situated at the centre of the city – literally in the middle; how random! I couldn’t believe it first to be honest, I thought it was a farm a bit outside London, but… not at all; the farmyard is just a 10-minute walk away from Liverpool Street station.

This farm is also the home of many much loved animals including great characters such as Bayleaf the Donkey & Bentley the Goat. Yes, all the animals of the farm have names! How cool is that!

Over summer, Spitalfields City Farm organises its quite popular Summer Market every Sunday (8th June – 28th September 12-6pm) and re-launches its very nice Café, where you can enjoy artisan coffee, cold drinks and cakes. Moreover, Spitalfields Music brings their Summer Festival to the farm this year, with performances from the Harrison Ensemble and Tower Hamlets Arts & Music Education Service (THAMES).

The market will set up every Sunday till the end of September selling DIY crafts, fresh vegetables grown on the farm, live folk music, crafts workshops, food stalls and cold drinks.

Now… especially on July, 13th there was the very cool Strawberry & Honey Fayre, during which we celebrated summer with dignity! Oh and speaking of, the temperature in London reached 34° yesterday – I had never experienced London or even England in general in such a hot weather! London… HATS OFF, you really blew me away! Anyway, back to the Strawberry & Honey Fayre, where we were also able to try some amazing strawberries, homemade scones, heavenly honey, cream teas, and a range of summer products such as a pretty original elderflower-based drink (that was so tasty!).

Well now that I think I’m done babbling, I’ll let you discover the photos I took at this occasion. ;)
